Attraction Spell (Wiccan)

This is a generic spell for attraction that you can tailor to suit your needs. It has been used to manifest change as well as to draw influences in the form of concrete objects (money, a job, a lover) or abstract ideas (protection, justice, love).

To perform this spell you will need:

The symbol you  use to represent your goal can be anything that you feel strongly connects the idea of your goal with reality. Some of your choices include, but are not limited to:

As you can see in the picture above, I chose to use play money to represent real money.

In addition to these things, you may also want to utilize the energy of herbs, stones, oils, etc... that are in harmony with your goal. For example, if you wish to manifest prosperity you would use green candles, chamomile, mint, and money-drawing oil.

To begin, prepare your three candles as you would for any spell. This usually entails inscribing your goal on the candle in the form of a key-word, a short phrase, or a symbol. The candle is anointed with oil and sometimes rolled in a mixture of one or more powdered herbs. For more information about this subject, please refer to my page on candle-magick.

Arrange the three candles so that they form an equilateral triangle. The triangle represents the three things needed to effect change or manifests one's desires. They are:

  • Time: Its a fact of life that its easier to break something down that to build it up and conditions/situations don't typically improve on their own. Therefore we must devote a certain amount of time to our efforts to effect change or manifest a goal. Since many of us have little time to devote to our dreams and goals in this work-a-day world witches choose to work in harmony with correct astrological correspondences
  • Space: As witches many of us have sacred spaces where we perform our work. Overtime these places become powerful because of the our interactions with divine beings as well as the time and energy we put into making them sacred.
  • Energy: Science tells us that energy cannot be spontaneously created or destroyed, but rather it only changes form. Therefore we make use of items that are in harmony with our goal. Because these items already vibrate on the same or similar frequency of our goal we have a greater chance of converting their energy into our goal.
If you desire you may wish to make a triangle-of-manifestion out of wood, cardboard, etc.. In some instances I have drawn a triangle in drawing-powder and even chalk. In the center of the triangle place your cauldron. The cauldron represents the womb in which you place the seed of your desire (your chosen symbol) and through which your goal will be birthed into the physical world.

Light the three candles in the name of the Maiden, Mother, and Crone (or any deity or deities to whom you feel strongly connected) asking for their assistance in manifesting your desire. You may wish to take a few moments to meditate on your goal and visualize it as if it has already manifested.

When you are ready, place the forefinger of your dominant hand on the rim of the cauldron. Slowly trace the rim three times in a clockwise motion. In witchcraft clockwise-circles are drawn in the air, over objects, etc... to instill them with positive energy or to draw things to you. As stated above, in reference to the triangle of manifestation, three is also a number associated with manifestation. As you slowly trace the rim on the cauldron, you should continue your visualization from before and if you so desire chant a spell. A generic spell is as follows:

By the power of three times three
make this wish a reality!

Alternately, you may wish to simply change something as simple as "Prosperity come to me" over and over. When you are satisfied with your efforts, leave the candles to burn out on their own. How you dispose of your chosen symbol depends on what you chose to represent your goal as well as the nature of your goal. For example, a sigil drawn on paper can be carried on your person to keep its energy close to you for protection, or burned to release its energy where it will be converted into your goal.

I hope you enjoyed this entry into manifesting your desires and if you use this spell I would love to hear about your experiences in the comment section below.

Crossroads University: The Ancestor Doll

Male Ancestor-Doll
As many of my loyal readers may have noticed, I haven’t been blogging as much as I usually do lately. Well the reason for this is that I’ve been over at the Crossroads University learning a bunch of cool stuff.

I am currently enrolled in three classes, they are:

• Foundations of Southern Rootwork
• Foundations of New Orleans Voodoo
Spiritual Traditions of Marie Laveaux

I’ve been practicing Hoodoo for several years now, but I’ve enjoyed getting my hands dirty gathering gris-gris from various sacred sites such as bodies of water, graveyards, different types of cross-roads, etc…talking shop with my teachers Denise Alvarado and Madrina Angelique as well as all my classmates online. Yes its been a real pleasure going back and re-visiting the basics as well as learning new stuff that I can share with you.

One of the things that I would like to share with you today is the Ancestor Doll. The Ancestor Doll is a doll that represents all of your positive ancestors known and unknown and, for this reason, the doll will not have a face (see photo above) nor will its gender be evident. However, in some cases a practitioner will make a female ancestor-doll, a male ancestor-doll or one of each depending on their personal choices.

To make an Ancestor Doll, sew a doll from the used clothing of a deceased relative or relatives. Alternately, if no such clothing is available, the doll can be made in white cloth. The doll can then be stuffed with bunting as well as those items that are usually found on an Ancestor Altar such as personal artifacts, graveyard dirt, copies of birth/death certificates, etc….If you don't have any personal artifacts for a deceased family member, simply write their full name on a piece of paper and include whatever pertinent information you have (birth/death date) as well as any happy memories or stories involving that person. In this way you are preserving the memory of that event/story and creating your own personal artifact.

To use the doll they are held, talked to, and can be carried with you when traveling. In this way the Ancestor-Doll is akin to a portable ancestral altar. The Ancestor Doll is the perfect choice for anyone who wishes to honor and work with their ancestors but who has a limited amount of space to work with or for those who must work in secret for any number of reasons.

I hope that you have enjoyed this teaser-lesson from Crossroads University. If you are interested in taking any of the classes I have mentioned or would like to know more about other available classes, please refer to the links below.

Affirmation Feb 2012

Affirmations are defined as a statement asserting the existence or the truth of something. In magick, affirmations are often worded in a positive manner and repeated over and over to ourselves either silently, or aloud. The idea is that we focus on inwardly that which we wish to manifest outwardly. However, it is not enough to simply repeat these statements, but we must also believe them to be true.

Belief is perhaps the most important factor in magickal thinking. If you don’t believe the words coming out of your mouth you’re not going to achieve any results. Affirmations help us build up our beliefs and make them more real. In fact, the word affirm come from the Latin word that means ‘to make solid’. When we are thinking positively, we are not thinking negatively; and in the absence of negative thoughts we grow to believe our words. With belief in our thoughts and words, comes the manifestation of our desires.

Writing Your Affirmations

While some people may have a difficult time thinking positively, it’s not very hard to write a positive statement. Here are some things to keep in mind when writing yours.

  1. Begin your affirmation with the words I AM. For example, I am wealthy rather than I will be wealthy. By stating that you will be wealthy it places your intent in the future rather than the present and that is precisely where your intent will manifest in the future, always before you, always out of reach.
  2. Make your affirmation active rather than passive. Directly after the words I am, include a word ending in –ing. For example, I am having, I am receiving, I am manifesting, etc...
  3. Avoid negative words and contractions. For example, repeat I am patient and understanding, rather than I won’t lose my temper. The point here is to focus on what you want, not what you don’t want.
  4. Be specific but keep it short. In order to get what you want, you must be clear about what you want. Avoid vague statements but keep your statement short as short affirmations are easier to remember.
With the arrival of February and St. Valentine's day just around the corner many people's thoughts will now turn to love. Whether they want to attract it, increase it, improve it, re-direct it, etc... on some level we all want love. So let's start planting those positive seeds so love can bloom, shall we?

Repeat after me:
I AM loved and loving!
I AM loved and loving!
I AM loved and loving!
